But to everyone who did accept him and believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

The Word became human and made his home with us. We have seen his glory the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

All things were made through him; nothing that has been made was made without him. In him was life, and that life was the light for all people.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him. He said, “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

He was in the world, and the world was made through him, but the world did not recognize him. He came to what was his own, but his own people didn’t accept him.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

The law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
