Wild Life

12 دن 12 میں سے

It’s Not Work With cameras off, and our tired, wind-worn faces lit by the fire, we began to share cherished moments from our trip. Learning to fly fish, seeing beauty in a new way, healing from wounds, Ryan’s soul-freeing truck ride, and finally it was John’s turn to share. He’d given up precious days away from Stasi, work, and writing his next book just to be with us. So, we’d given John Wednesday without us to catch up a bit. It took us by surprise when he said his favorite moment came on Wednesday.  Then he explained. On Wednesday, he started his morning ritual of tea and Scripture. But He was feeling off. Then, he jumped into his day and started catching up on email. He still felt off, like he was missing something. Then he realized he was missing us. Talking about our time together, he said, “This hasn’t been work for me, guys. I haven’t worked a minute.”  Honestly, it was the same for us. It felt like we’d spent a few days with a friend, or rather, a father. Someone to enjoy us, believe in us, and grow us up. Here’s why this is powerful. Not just because John is an incredible man of God, though he is. Not just because John meant it, though he did. It’s powerful because it’s the flesh example of the lesson we learned all week. We road-tripped to Colorado to get our questions answered as men. We came looking for answers, a roadmap for life. We wanted to know, “Are we doing it right? Do we have what it takes?” And just about every answer we got, including John’s Wednesday moment, sounded something like this: “You get to be sons. You have a Father.”  John fathered us for a few days, but more importantly, he showed us there isn’t a master plan for life, but we get something better—we get a Father who enjoys us. It’s not work for our heavenly Father. He enjoys every minute.  He loves you, and He believes in you.  You have what it takes.  After you finish episode four and read today’s Scriptures, use the link below to make your own list. What steps do you need to take to live the wild life? Do you need a mentor? Godly friends? A wild goal? More time in Scripture? Make a list and invite your Father to lead the way.
