As we delve into the word of God and read and understand these passages, we must remember and be thankful for Gods’ promise to us. In Isaiah 42, God tells us about His plans for us, that He will send His servant who He has specifically chosen to “bring justice to the nations.” He is telling us of His plan to send Jesus who carries the burden of all our sins. He handpicked someone to send to us to carries all burdens for us. When I think about this, I am overcome with joy. I am reminded of God’s faithfulness and unconditional love. At times, we stumble and take a misstep, but He is always there. His grace and mercy prevails over all and I am so thankful for this. I think about His grace and love for me and all those around me. Throughout Lent I sometimes feel disappointed in myself because I think about how I am not always perfect, but I am filled with joy when I remember that in His eyes I am always deserving of His grace. That alone makes me want to do better. In Isaiah 42: 6–7, He says, “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.” God promises us rescue and help. He promises us someone to rescue us from our sins and to heal those who are broken and blind. Throughout this season, I will be thinking about this. Think about thepromise God made and acted on. He sent us the ultimate gift and Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for us! AKILAH PATTERSON Residence Director, Potter Hall Office of Residence Life
