God’s commandment is that we believe in His Son Jesus Christ and that we love one another. It’s a commandment to love one another, not an option. I often want to view it as an option, especially if someone has hurt me in some way or been hateful or even if I just don’t like them for whatever reason. But God has commanded us to love one another. So who do you need to love? Again we must go back to Christ and see how He loved us. He loved us when we were unlovely. He laid down His life for us while we were still sinners. Even though it may not be easy to love someone, we must pray that God will give us the grace to obey Him and love one another.
