When God Seems Late

DAY 2 OF 6

When God Doesn’t Rush – Day 2

Jesus didn’t arrive “on time” to heal Lazarus. From a human point of view, He came late. But from God’s perspective, He arrived right on time.

“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
(John 11:21, NIV)

How many times have you said something similar: “Lord, if only You had acted sooner…”? It’s hard to accept that God doesn’t follow our schedule. But His timing is never wrong.

Abraham waited twenty-five years to see Isaac born. David was anointed king as a young man but spent years fleeing before sitting on the throne. God hadn’t forgotten them—He was forming them. The delay wasn’t loss; it was preparation.

In daily life, it’s like baking bread in the oven. If you take it out too soon, it collapses; but if you leave it for the right time, it comes out strong and fluffy. The same happens with faith: the heat of the process doesn’t destroy you—it strengthens you.

“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
(Romans 4:20–21, NIV)

Waiting on God is not passivity—it’s continuing to believe, serve, and walk, even when you don’t see results.

Talk with God and open your heart:

Lord, help me to accept Your timing. May anxiety never make me doubt Your faithfulness. Teach me to wait with hope and gratitude. Amen.

Think about this:
What situation in your life feels like a delay but could actually be preparation?
Can you thank God even before you see what you’ve been waiting for?

Coming up on Day 3: When Everything Gets Worse Before the Miracle
Tomorrow we’ll discover that sometimes what seems like the end is just the beginning of the miracle.

About this Plan

When God Seems Late

Sometimes we pray, trust, and wait… but God seems to remain silent. However, His silence is not absence. This plan, based on the story of Lazarus and other passages in Scripture, will show you that God is never late—His delays are part of His purpose. Learn to recognize His voice in the silence, His hand in the waiting, and His power in the process.
