The Hospitable Heart

DAY 5 OF 5

AGAINST ALL ODDS

Just as the saying goes, “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride,” many people sincerely desire to be hospitable, yet find themselves hindered by the harsh realities surrounding them — economic hardship, social instability, corruption, and daily frustrations. Under such pressure, it becomes easy to transfer aggression to others. A person may genuinely want to do good, but life’s challenges can work aggressively against that desire. If care is not taken, one can grow weary in doing good.

Galatians 6:9 (KJV) reminds us, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Your stressful and underpaying job, difficult health situation, economic instability, or dissatisfaction with societal issues are not enough reasons to be rude or to stop doing good. As children of God, we must understand that hospitality is not seasonal. It is a calling — a ministry with great rewards attached to it. We are called to show kindness both “in season and out of season".

Hospitality is not reserved for a select few. Galatians 6:10 (KJV) continues, “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” God delights in seeing His children remain warm, kind, and generous — even when circumstances make it difficult. He is proud of a heart that stays hospitable AGAINST ALL ODDS.

Let’s Pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching me the beauty of a hospitable heart. Help me to see people through Your eyes, to offer warmth, kindness, and love in every encounter. Teach me to serve joyfully, even with the little I have, and to recognize divine moments hidden in ordinary interactions. May my heart remain open, my hands generous, and my home a reflection of Your grace.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
