The Gift of Eternal Life
Salvation is not a reward for good performance, it is the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Eternal life is not an abstract concept, it is the very life of God imparted into the human spirit at new birth, pulsating in the believer today. Scripture says, He that hath the Son hath life (1 John 5:12). Eternal life is not a promise for the future, it is a present possession and reality for everyone who believes in Jesus.
The Bible concept of sin transcends sinful deeds of men. The evil of sin is not just in man’s wrongdoing (that is mere symptoms of a bigger problem). The real culprit of sin is unbelief, the rejection of God’s gift of life. Those who go to hell end up there not because of their sinful deeds. People perish only on the account of their rejection of eternal life. Now how does man reject eternal life? By refusing to believe in Jesus and His redemptive work for the salvation of man (John 3:16–18).
It is important to understand that condemnation is not God’s punishment for sinners. It is every man’s current reality till he receives eternal life. In other words, every man is already condemned by his unbelief, salvation is the act of God’s rescue from that place of condemnation.
Sound Code:
Lord, thank You for the free gift of eternal life through Christ. I rejoice that I have crossed from death to life. Amen.
