How Heaven Answers When We Worship

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5: Worship Unlocks a Glimpse of Eternity

Over the course of this reading plan, we have seen all the blessings that worship can unlock in our lives, but as I close, I want to make sure that you really understand why we worship.

Friend, sometimes we lose sight of how amazing our God is, so I just want to remind you of the amazingness of our heavenly Father. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that means that the same God who literally lives on the inside of you is the one who shut the lions’ mouths when Daniel was in their den. He's the same God who saw Hagar running for her life and protected her and her son. He is the God who split the Red Sea, fed the Israelites manna, and conquered their enemies in the promised land.

He did all that and even more, and then He came into flesh and was born of a virgin, and while He was here on Earth, He turned water into wine, fed 5,000 with a couple of fish and some bread, and opened the eyes of blind Bartimaeus. He raised Lazarus from the dead, healed lepers, and freed the demon-possessed.

Friend, this is the same God who took the whipping post. It's the same one who was denied by His friends and hung naked on a cross — not for anything He did wrong but for every one of our sins.

That God is the same now as He was back then, and He is seated in Heaven right now. Maybe you’ve seen His protection like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendego. Maybe you’ve seen his compassion like the thief on the cross. Maybe you’ve seen his power and provision like the Israelites. He is a wonderful and powerful God, and one day, everybody in the world is going to recognize that and declare it with their mouths.

In Revelation, we get a peek of what Heaven is like, and we see that God is sitting on the throne just being showered in worship.

That is the ultimate worship, friend, the future in store for every one of us. The worship that we’re doing here on Earth is just practice for the real thing, but it holds so much power. When we practice worship right now, we invite a sliver of Heaven into our problems, doubt, and confusion. When we say, “Jesus is Lord! Glory to God the Father!” we give Him His due and invite Heaven's presence right here with us.

For Your Consideration

  • What praiseworthy aspects of God have you seen in your life? Where do you see these aspects in the Old and New Testaments?
  • Reflect on the fact that worship is a sneak-peak at Heaven. How does this change your attitude in worship?
  • After studying worship this week, what do you think is the purpose of it?

About this Plan

How Heaven Answers When We Worship

God has promises for you all throughout the Bible, and one of the best ways that you can activate those promises is by going to a place of complete worship. In this 5-day reading plan, Denise Renner uses biblical examples to reveal the ways worship can bring blessings into our lives. When we give God the honor and glory He deserves, He responds abundantly!
