Day 14: Rejoice in the Lord
Reflection:
Even amid warnings and judgment, Advent also shouts, “Rejoice!” Joy is possible because the Lord is near. We live in a time of great angst. Our senses can feel bombarded, and the constant hustle and bustle of the world can drown out the stillness and peace that belongs to us in Jesus. It is only in the Lord’s drawing near at Advent that our anxiety subsides. It is more than just advice; it is a divine command: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Here in Philippians, Paul gives a blueprint for how to manage our struggles and concerns. We turn to the One who is near, and we petition Him, with thanksgiving, to turn our minds away from our worries. This isn’t about external factors ceasing to be what they are. It is about the way in which Jesus guards our heart and mind amidst the chaos of life. “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
Meditation:
Where have you seen joy break into darkness?

About this Plan

Advent is more than a countdown to Christmas. It is a season of holy waiting, of longing in the dark for the Light that is coming. We not only look back to the manger, but forward to Christ’s return in glory. Advent trains our hearts to be awake and expectant, anchoring us in the hope of God’s promises. This 25-day plan invites you to slow down, reflect, and rediscover the meaning of Advent. Together we will journey through Scripture, prayer, and meditation, remembering that the coming of Jesus is not sentimental tradition, but a world-shaking reality.
