What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent MeditationsНамуна

Day 16: Joy in God’s Salvation
- Verses:
- Psalm 51:12: "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit."
- Isaiah 35:10: "The ransomed of the Lord will return... everlasting joy will crown their heads."
- Acts 13:52: "And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit."
- Romans 5:11: "We also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
- 1 Peter 1:8–9: "Though you have not seen him, you love him... and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy."
- Reflection:
Salvation through Christ is our deepest source of joy, an unshakable gift that endures. Psalm 51:12 pleads for restored joy, which Christ’s redemption provides. Isaiah 35:10 promises everlasting joy for the ransomed, fulfilled in Jesus. Even unseen, He fills us with glorious joy (1 Peter 1:8–9), as the early disciples experienced (Acts 13:52). Advent reminds us that this joy, rooted in reconciliation with God (Romans 5:11), transforms our hearts, empowering us to live with a willing spirit, radiant with the joy of salvation.
- Application:
- Reflect on how salvation has brought joy to your life. Today, pray with Psalm 51:12, asking God to renew your joy.
- Share this joy by encouraging someone with a testimony of God’s saving grace, perhaps through a conversation or note.
- Journal about a time when your faith in Christ lifted your spirit.
- Take one action, like serving someone in need, to express the joy of salvation, letting it shine as a witness to God’s transformative love.
- Prayer:
Savior, thank You for the joy of salvation. Let it overflow in my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
About this Plan

These 29 daily devotionals, created by Dr. Walt Larimore, are structured around the four traditional pre-Christmas Advent candles—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love and one final devotion for the penultimate Christ candle. Each of the first four weeks focuses on one candle, with seven daily devotions exploring a specific aspect of that theme through Bible verses, a reflection, and a prayer prompt—then, of course, the final Christmas Eve or Christmas Day devotion. All Bible verses are quoted from the NIV, 2011.
