Following Jesus Through the First Christmas: 25 Days of Advent Truths

DAY 24 OF 25

The angel said to Joseph, “You are to name Him Jesus,” which means “the Lord saves.”

That name tells the whole story — who He is, why He came, and what He's done for us.

Names mattered in Scripture because they revealed identity and purpose.

Salvation isn't an abstract idea or a distant policy — it's personal.

Salvation comes to you in a person. A person who walks into our world, shares our sorrows, bears our burdens, and pays for our sins.

Jesus’ name doesn’t just point to what He did then; It also points to what He does now. To call on His name is to invite a rescue that meets our deepest need: a restored relationship with the Father.

That reality changes how we live.

We don’t chase salvation as if it’s a prize to earn; we receive it as a gift from a Savior who knows us by name. We live grateful, free, and bold — because the One who saves is with us and for us.

Salvation has a name, and His name is Jesus.

Pray:

Jesus, thank You for coming to save me. Help me believe that Your name means rescue for my life today — for my fears, my failures, and my hopes. Teach me to call on You with confidence and to live as one who has been found. Amen.

Talk About It:

If someone asked you what Jesus has saved you from and for, how would you answer? How might sharing that story help someone else see who He really is?

About this Plan

Following Jesus Through the First Christmas: 25 Days of Advent Truths

During a season that often feels busy and stretched thin, we invite you to pause and remember what matters most: following Jesus. The birth of Christ is more than a story we tell in December. It's the beginning of our Savior's life on earth — and the pattern for our own life with Him. Our prayer is that these 25 days prepare your heart to celebrate His birth, deepen your walk with Him today, and stir your hope for His return. We’ve also created a companion worship playlist – search “Following Jesus Through the First Christmas” on Spotify to listen.
