Zerubbabel

DAY 5 OF 5

Do not despise small beginnings

Zerubbabel’s journey was full of opposition, delays and discouragement. The temple’s foundation looked unimpressive, the progress slow. But in Zechariah’s vision, God reminded His people not to despise the day of small beginnings.

How often do we look at our own lives and feel like we haven’t done enough? That our efforts seem too small to matter? Yet God sees it differently. He rejoices over each faithful step, each humble act of obedience.

When Zerubbabel laid that first stone, heaven took notice. The project may have seemed insignificant to others, but it mattered to God. And it matters when you take those small, obedient steps too – when you pray even when you feel dry, when you keep trusting when nothing seems to move, when you serve quietly without recognition.

Small beginnings are sacred beginnings when they’re surrendered to Him. They’re not the end of the story – they’re the start of a miracle in motion. God delights in your progress, not your perfection. Don’t overlook the power in small, faithful beginnings. Heaven sees every stone you lay, every step you take, and every seed you plant. Your obedience, however tiny it feels, is the first chapter of something extraordinary.
