Got another rejection letter? That email does not define you. I want to remind anyone unemployed that your worth does not come from a job title. So many people today are unemployed through no fault of their own. You’re fighting a silent battle to stay sane while bills keep piling up. You know you’re talented, so why isn’t God opening the door? Let me reassure you: God’s timing is perfect, and He has an opportunity prepared explicitly for you. My goal today is to encourage you to remain faithful, persevere, and keep walking forward in your Christian journey.

I’ve been where you are. I lost my job, drained my savings, exhausted unemployment benefits, lost my apartment, and had to stay with a relative for two months until I got back on my feet. What I learned is that valleys are not permanent; they are training grounds for the future. They sharpen your faith so that when God elevates you, you’re ready to stand on the mountaintop.

After every job loss —and I’ve had a few —God has always elevated me to something greater. Each valley I walked through was never wasted. I chose to use that time to draw closer to God, rather than complaining about when the next door would open or growing bitter over a layoff. Because I used those seasons wisely, God continually blessed me with better opportunities and greater pay.

I know from experience that valleys are not the end; they are the preparation ground for something better. The valley you are in right now is preparing you for your next adventure, which will lead you to your mountaintop. So, again, do not allow a rejection letter to bring you down.

Before we proceed, you need to settle this truth in your heart: You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). When doors close, always keep in mind, God may be protecting or redirecting you—not punishing you. Rejection is not your identity.
