We’ve been exploring scenes from the friendship between Nicodemus, a religious leader, and Jesus. Nicodemus and Jesus first met and talked in secret. The next place we see Nicodemus in John’s gospel is more public, among his peers.

Amid confusion and skepticism around Jesus and who he claimed to be, Nicodemus speaks up. His friendship with Jesus seems to have emboldened him a bit.
