Unleashed to Find Kingdom Purpose
We are made in the image of God as individuals. But when we fixate on ourselves, our goals and our choices alone, we fail to create the fuller expression of design that brings God glory. As followers of Jesus, you and I are a part of a bigger picture that puts God’s glory on display. We are created to connect with the purpose of building this picture. As we discover how to set aside our individual desires and look instead to the greater collective good through the glorifying of God, we build a spiritual house through Jesus Christ (see 1 Peter 2:4-5).
God is seeking in each of us our involvement in a cohesive purpose called His kingdom agenda. God has one overarching picture and purpose for our existence: the advancement of His kingdom and glory on earth. When God’s kingdom agenda advances, His glory becomes magnified. God’s divine authority, expressed through everyday life, brings Him the greatest glory.
God’s goal when creating history and time (since He exists outside of history and time) was to implant and expand the imprint of His heavenly realm in this earthly realm (see Matthew 6:10). The creation of humanity helped in delivering the divine will of the heavenly kingdom into an earthly environment. Our part is to participate in extracting the will of God from heaven and implementing it in history. Anything you or I do that does not flow with God’s will is operating outside of our created purpose. When you understand and accept the reality that you were made on purpose and for a purpose, it changes your whole outlook on life. What’s more, it helps you identify the existence of a rival kingdom headed by Satan, which seeks to knock you off the divine purpose God has planned.
Satan acts like a bitter ex bent on destroying all hope of good in the life of the one he lost. This is because you and I once belonged to his kingdom, but through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we have been redeemed and rescued from it (see Colossians 1:13-14). When you realize how you affect the lives of those around you for good or for bad, it provides the motivation to overcome Satan’s schemes.
God wants and deserves to be the centerpiece of your days. If you miss the centrality of why you are here, you miss out on unleashing His kingdom purpose, authority and grace to carry out your purpose. God has a unique purpose for your life, but in order to discover and maximize it, you need to start thinking with a kingdom mindset. As your mindset renews to align with God’s kingdom mindset, you’ll live out your intended purpose (see Romans 12:1-2 and 1 Corinthians 10:31). God has asked us to live and function with a kingdom mindset that makes His glory our goal. We are to seek the advancement of God’s kingdom in all we do.
When we live our lives in alignment under His rule, we can rest in His power, peace and security no matter what goes on around us. Your connection to God stabilizes you because His kingdom cannot be shaken (see Hebrews 12:28). Now, that doesn’t mean your circumstances and trials aren’t real. It just means they no longer dominate or control you. When the power of Christ dwells in you, you are made strong and able to serve Him at a greater level and have a deeper experience of His grace.
How would having a kingdom mindset impact you living out your kingdom purpose in connection with other believers?
Why is it important to see yourself as having a part to play in a collective drama for God’s purpose, rather than simply an individual made in God’s image?
How can expressing thankfulness to God for drawing you nearer to Him in all circumstances help you participate in His unshakable kingdom purpose?
Prayer
Thank You, Lord, that I can be part of Your big picture for the kingdom. I want to put Your glory on display in this world! You have created me for Your purpose, so I ask that You would help me overcome any schemes Satan has to derail my participation in Your purpose. May the power of Christ dwell in me and unleash me to serve You in deeper and greater ways. Amen.
