Praying With Assurance: Keys to Profit and Progress

DAY 7 OF 30

CONFIDENCE IS MORE THAN FEELING GOOD IN PRAYER

Many people mistake the excitement of God’s presence for confidence in prayer. Every time you pray, worship, or fast, you naturally feel good because His presence refreshes. But the feeling is not a guarantee of answers. Hebrews 10:22 commands us to “draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience.” That assurance is what produces results, not the goosebumps you felt while praying.

Confidence is rooted in the truth of God’s Word. Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). If you build your confidence on feelings, you will soon crash when the atmosphere changes. The devil knows how to create situations that challenge feelings. But when your assurance is on the unshakable Word of God, no storm can destabilise you. I have seen people pray passionately for hours, but the moment they stepped out of the prayer atmosphere, their confidence dissolved. That shows their assurance was not built on truth but on temporary excitement.

Let this be your decision: no matter what I feel, my confidence will rest on the immovable Word of God. Feelings are unstable, but the Word is eternal. If you base your assurance on God’s promises, you can pray with boldness and expect results even when everything around you looks contrary. God does not answer feelings—He answers faith rooted in His Word. Refuse to be tossed by how you feel; choose to be anchored in what He has said.

THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Do I build my confidence in prayer on passing feelings or on God’s unchanging Word? How can I train myself to stand on truth even when I feel nothing?

PRAYER:
Father, deliver me from trusting feelings. Let my confidence in prayer be firmly rooted in Your eternal Word, and let my faith be unshakable in every season, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
