STUCK: Heart

Are you feeling stuck somewhere? Is your life feeling stagnant? Perhaps you are experiencing the doldrums – nothing's wrong, but nothing's really right either. The good news is that God has the way out! In this 5-day plan, we will work on identifying where you are stuck.

Then it's time to take action.

Old tools used in the previous season may not be effective for this season. New levels require new strategies. The Bible confirms this: And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved. (Matthew 9:17 NLT)

In other words, your thoughts, words, and actions may have gotten you to where you are now, but if you want to go beyond this point, changes are necessary.

Ugh – no one likes change!

To go where the Lord is calling you, you will need to take steps that are not comfortable.

The life of loving Jesus is not built for comfort – it is supposed to show others that eternity is possible. When we choose to love Jesus (and he gives us a choice), we get to be made new! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Sometimes, discomfort hits our lives in the form of a broken heart. Loss happens, people leave or disappoint us, or grief overtakes us. We find ourselves in the grip of hopelessness with our hearts shattered into a million seemingly unfixable pieces.

But God has healing for our broken hearts and our brokenness.

If you are stuck because your heart has been kicked in the shin, if you are wondering if you can survive this most recent heart attack, take heart – God promises to draw near to the brokenhearted and will save the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

This may be uncomfortable for a while. Hard truth: it may be downright painful. But the Lord won't leave you there, even if it feels like you have been stuck for a hot minute.

Give him all the broken pieces and see how he puts them back together. He always leaves us better than he finds us.

Prayer: God, I surrender all my brokenness to you! My heart, mind, body, spirit, and emotions — wherever there is brokenness, take it and make me whole again. Do it your way, Lord! Please help me get unstuck from this place I am in. Thank you for drawing near to me and saving me over and over. In Jesus' name, amen.
