Often when we think we’re fine...
That’s when we find our lives are unraveling beneath the surface. Life can easily fool us. We think success or possessions keep us from falling prey to the dark sides of life. But that’s where we get snagged!
The reality? This fake exterior only keeps us from seeing how deeply darkness has seeped into us. We need the truth to shine its light on us. Without it, we can be oblivious to how far from the truth sin or apathy has taken us.
By certain standards, you may be good or at least fine, but you still need God's Word of truth to shape you, in order to keep the subtleties of evil at bay. By thinking we’re okay, we deceive ourselves, and we end up cruising through life, doing nothing to deal with our real struggles. And it piles up. Without the truth, we all arrive at the void that’s left when the world’s empty promises betray us. But under the guidance of the Living Word of God, our inner lives begin to take on a new shape.
A worldly mindset only leads to ruin. We need a God-shaped mindset, which leads to thriving. Recognizing we need Him in our lives to feel and know we’re complete is the first step to understanding just how precious we are to Him, and the Word of God is the roadmap that leads us there.
As we read it, our minds are transformed, and God gives us a brand new understanding of reality. The cobwebs lingering in the dark corners of our minds and hearts can finally be cleared away as we let the light of truth come in.
The world's ideas about how a person should act, think, and believe are always changing.
With so many opinions in the world, how can we possibly know what's right? God's Word brings understanding of His will. It renews your mind and helps you to see what is right or wrong, real or fake, truth or lie. The Bible is pure truth—it never changes! But friend, it will change the way you think. It will save you from being ruled by fear, and confusion, and uncertainty. It will renew your mind.
Romans 12:2 tells us...
"Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." [NLT]
Friend, let God’s Word renew your mind today.
Let's pray:
Lord, on the surface, I may seem fine, but I need the truth so badly. I ask that through Your word, You'll renew my mind. Clear the fog of worldly ideas. Shine the light of truth in the dark places of my mind and heart, and change the way I think. In Jesus' name. Amen.
