DAY 5 OF 7

Peter, a Disciple Like No Other

Do you know what it means for the God of Heaven to call you by name? Jesus came to earth, began His ministry at age 30, and called Peter, saying, “Follow Me.” Peter left his nets — he was a fisherman — and left his father to follow Jesus. Imagine the privilege of being called an apostle of Jesus Christ.

Peter had experiences with Jesus that no one else had. In the middle of a storm, Jesus came to his disciples walking on water. Peter said, “Lord, if it’s You, command me to come to You on the water,” and Jesus replied, “Come.” He didn’t say it to James or to Andrew — only to Peter. Peter walked on water, and he was the only one besides the Lord to do so.

At the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus only took Peter, James, and John with him. None from the multitudes, the 70, or the rest of the twelve went with him. It was just those three who saw Jesus transfigured, speaking with Moses and Elijah, and heard the Father’s voice in the cloud of glory.

When Jairus’ daughter died, Jesus left the crowd behind and only took Peter, James, and John with him. These became witnesses to the girl’s resurrection.

On the night Jesus said to his disciples that He would be arrested and that all would scatter, Peter insisted he would never deny Him and even die for Him if necessary. However, it was on that very night that Peter denied Jesus three times. One of the Gospels mentions Jesus turning and looking at Peter. It was a look that said: Peter, don’t you know Me? Didn’t I live in your house, walk with you, perform miracles, raise the dead? Didn’t you walk on water? Didn’t you see My glory? Don’t you know Me? Peter went out and wept bitterly all night.

About this Plan

Are you on the edge of the abyss, hopeless because you ruined God's plan for your life? If you know you are 100% guilty, grieving over your condition, and perhaps asking: Is there a second chance for me and my finances, my family, or my faith? You should know that God has heard your cry, and He has another opportunity for you.
