God In Everything, Everywhere

When we hit the ground running on a Monday morning, it’s easy to leave behind any peace and spiritual ease we felt at church on Sunday. We might even compartmentalise God to His ‘house’, the church building where we gathered to worship. But that’s not the way the Bible speaks about God. He doesn’t just appear when we create an atmosphere in church or in our quiet times. God’s glory is everywhere.

So, this week, begin your days by celebrating our ever-present God. If the whole earth is filled with His glory, then the office, the kitchen, the classroom, and the supermarket are holy ground too. As you walk into work or wait at the bus stop, you can ask, ‘God, where are You moving here?’

What’s more, Psalm 139 reminds us that wherever we go, His hand is already guiding us. So we don’t leave God behind in the church building – we follow Him into the thick of everyday life, trusting He’s just as present on a Monday morning as in a Sunday service.

Prayer:

Lord, as I enter into the demands of today’s appointments and tasks, open my eyes to the wonderful work of Your hands all around me. As I go to my usual places this week, help me to see Your goodness and glory in the small things. In the midst of this week’s hustle, help me be attentive to Your Spirit directing my steps, my words, and my choices. As I contemplate my timetable, help me to be aware of Your gentle presence with me throughout the day. Amen.
