Rise and Follow: 30 Days in MarkНамуна

Mark doesn’t waste time. From the very first verse, he announces: “The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God.” With urgency, he pulls us straight into the story of Jesus—the one who fulfills ancient promises and brings God’s kingdom near.

In these opening verses, we see John preparing the way, Jesus baptized and affirmed by the Father, and then immediately tested in the wilderness. It’s a fast-moving introduction that sets the tone for the whole gospel. Mark wants us to know that this isn’t just another biography. It’s the breaking-in of God’s reign through Jesus.

As you begin this 30-day journey, pause and ask: Who is Jesus to me? Mark presents him as the one who brings good news—good news that still transforms lives today. Over the next month, you’ll read stories of Jesus healing the sick, confronting evil, welcoming outsiders, teaching with authority, and ultimately laying down his life to bring salvation.

Take a moment to write down a few hopes you have for these 30 days. Maybe you want deeper clarity about who Jesus is. Maybe you’re longing for renewal in your faith. Maybe you’re simply curious. Whatever your starting point, open your heart to the Spirit’s work. The kingdom of God is near.

• How do you hope you will grow through this 30-day journey in the Gospel of Mark? Write down a few goals, and spend time in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to transform you as you dig into God’s Word.
