Start Dreaming Again: From Valley to Vision

DAY 5 OF 30

Provision and Protection in the Valley

“The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.” Psalm 34:15 NLT

It was an honorable mission. Threatened by the king of Moab, the kings of Israel and Judah set out with their armies to confront the enemy. But the journey was long and their troops and horses languished from thirst. They would die on this mission unless God intervened.

“‘What should we do?’ the king of Israel cried out. ‘The Lord has brought the three of us here to let the king of Moab defeat us’” (2 Kings 3:10 NLT).

Desperately, they cried to God for help. And miraculously, God sent divine provision. Overnight, the valley before them filled with water, not from rain or wind but from a supernatural supply. The need was met; disaster was prevented. But the miracle wasn’t over.

When the enemy army saw the pools of water, they thought it was blood. Believing that the Israelite armies had turned on each other, the Moabites went out to seize the plunder. To their surprise, the Israelite armies attacked and won a great victory. (2 Kings 3:10–27).

Your situation may seem dire and impossible. You may have started on this Christian journey with zeal and great hope, but the journey has been long. You’ve wandered into a valley that seems endless, and you’re weary and thirsty and at your wits’ end.

You desperately need God’s provision and protection as old enemies of your soul raise their ugly heads, taunting you and threatening your resolve to live for the Lord.

God displayed his glory for the Israelite kings. He sent provision and protection and a mighty victory over their enemy. And he will do the same for you. Seek the Lord. Ask for his help and trust in his salvation.

Pray:“Help, God! I need your provision and protection from the enemies that are rising against me. Come now and save me. In Jesus’ name, I ask, amen.”

Seek: What is your greatest need right now? Ask the Lord for his help and listen closely for his response.

Speak: I depend on God. He is my help. He is my protection and provision.
