GENESIS 50
We have reached the end of a very special story (which is actually only one chapter in God's great story)! We can see something interesting in this part: despite everything, Joseph's brothers remained the same, fearing that he would mistreat them and plotting a new plan to get along with him. And Joseph also remained the same, weeping and comforting them, recognizing and exalting the name of God in his story. Joseph recognized, until the end, that despite all the evil that had been done to him, the Lord was with him at all times, where everything worked together for his good — and that was enough for him to see God turning evil into good (Romans 8:28).
In John 9:1-4, Jesus teaches us this when he speaks of a blind man who was not blind because of his sin or that of his parents, but simply so that the glory of God might be revealed. There are evils and challenges that we cannot understand or even find a reason for. But we can hold on to this truth: what seems too bad can open up an opportunity for us to taste God's forgiveness.
With the story of Joseph and his brothers, the Lord shows that there is no place too deep or too dark that He cannot reach, for He is sovereign over every circumstance and makes a point of revealing His glory to us, His children, through each one.
LET'S PRAY:
Think about the challenges you have faced on your journey so far and pray, recognizing God's greatness and sovereignty over each one of them. The Holy Spirit is with you! So ask Him to help you see God's presence in these situations and the way He has revealed Himself.
