Christ Is Everything

In the first meditation, we saw that, outside the person of Jesus Christ, there is no happiness. He alone can fill all our needs. He can meet every one of our human needs, big and small.

For example, if we are lonely, we have a friend in Him (Jn 15:13-14). If we are lost, He is our Good Shepherd who cares for His sheep (Ps 23:1, Jn 10:11, 1 Pet 2:25). If we have sinned and seek forgiveness, He is our righteous Advocate and the Sacrifice that enables us to atone for evil and root it out of ourselves (1 Jn 2:1-2). If we lack power in our Christian walk, He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire (Mt 3:11). If we are sick, Jesus is the Physician of physicians (Ps 147:3), able and willing to heal us. If we are tormented by the devil and his demons, He is The Valiant Hero who triumphs over the powers of darkness (Ps 68:2).

He is wisdom incarnate (1 Cor 1:30), the Prince of peace (Isa 9:6), the bread of life (Jn 6:35), our hope (1 Ti 1:1), our joy and strength (1 Ch 16:27), our shelter, our rock and fortress (Ps 18:3), the resurrection and life that keeps us alive (Jn 11:25), the Lamb of God, the Lion of Judah, the Truth, the Way, our sanctification, our righteousness, our redemption, our Creator, our divine Bridegroom, etc.

We could spend days and days describing the infinite greatness of who Jesus Christ is. There is no one like Him. No one comes close to matching His beauty. And the fascinating thing is that He longs to make Himself known to us. He wants to reveal His majesty right now. He wants to captivate us and make us dependent on Him, until He becomes our everything.

I invite you to declare Jesus' identity loudly and confidently: “He is my Savior, He is my good Shepherd, He is my Source, my Refuge, the One in whom I place my trust, etc.” Then meditate on these truths, taking the time to let your heart and mind become imbued with the person of Christ.
