Embracing Your True Self: Living in Your Christ-Centered Identity With Jennifer SlatteryНамуна

You are the apple of God's eye.
Worthless. Pathetic. Annoying. Too much. These labels play through Monte’s mind, particularly when he feels tired, discouraged or overwhelmed. But he’s learning to silence the lies with truth. To view himself as the “apple of God’s eye” (Psalm 17:8, NIV).
This analogy signifies something precious, highly valued and protected.
That’s how God views you. His death on the cross, the price He paid to redeem and welcome you close, proves it.
May we remember that Image in our most painful, frightening or lonely seasons. We are the apples of our Father’s eye. God sees us, always, loves us, deeply, and says we’re precious and worth protecting.
God won't hurt, abandon, or ignore us. To the contrary. He stopped at nothing, even death on the cross, to draw us near. He calls you precious; the apple of His eye. Jesus saw your unformed body before you took a breath, before you committed your first sin, or experienced your first hurt and said that woman there, she’s worth all I have—my life. That man is the apple of My eye. May you anchor yourself deeply in that unshakable truth.
Journal Prompts:
Consider something you deem worth protecting. How does reflecting on that item, and your feelings and actions toward it, help you understand God’s view of you as the “apple of His eye”? What most challenges your ability to believe this? Ask God to help you receive the words in today’s reading and live as if they’re true.
