30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

DAY 22 OF 30

Jesus, give us hope for the days ahead.

I’m so thankful my marriage’s future isn’t up to me. Let me explain: years back, my husband and I married and tried to muscle our way to a God honoring marriage all on our own. The only people we were honoring were ourselves. We were motivated by looking like we were adults who knew how to hold this whole thing together. We failed. We divorced. We remarried. Thank you, Jesus!

Because of failing in our own strength, we were forced to look to the only one who can hold us together and author our days. I know that God has great plans for us. Plans worth having hope for and a future worth being excited about. Not because he has promised immense financial provision, or good health, or children who will take care of us in our old age, but because he has promised his presence will go with us, and his faithfulness will not fail. He’s promised that he loves me and my husband and that he has good in store for us that will be all for his glory.

In Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) the promise Jeremiah is declaring from God is not that everything will work out perfectly. In fact, the next part of the story is that Israel spends 70 years in exile. But what the promise really is and that we can hold onto is:

  • God has not forgotten his people
  • God has good plans for his people
  • God will restore us, but maybe not immediately
  • God will be with us through it all

Today's Prayer:

Lord help us both to remain hopeful about the plans you have in store for our future. Help us to trust your plan even when we are confused or discouraged about it.

About this Plan

30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

Bringing your marriage before the Lord is both powerful and redemptive. When two imperfect people stand on Scripture and invite God to strengthen their bond, they build a defense the enemy cannot break. What a gift to know God is for your marriage, and for you. These next 30 days are an invitation to declare his Word over your relationship and trust him with what only he can do: protect, grow, and fortify your marriage from the inside out.
