Unleashing FaithfulnessНамуна

In ancient times, a Roman soldier’s shield was large and covered in leather that would be soaked in water before battle. The shield not only physically protected the soldier’s body due to its size but also extinguished flaming arrows as they hit the water-soaked leather.
While flaming arrows may not be headed our way, trials and challenges in our daily lives can often feel that way. When faced with these difficulties, we can choose to dodge the arrows or face them head-on. As Christians, we’re called to put on the armor of God and to develop a shield of faith formed by the deep assurance that comes from steady, daily trust in His promises. Taking up the shield of faith enables us to withstand all the fiery arrows that life brings and trust that God will be faithful. It will help us persevere when our faith is tested and we’re tempted to doubt.
What flaming arrows are you dodging in your life? What would it look like to instead hold up a shield of faith?

About this Plan

It's easy to look at characters from the Bible, early church leaders, and even modern-day leaders and assume that the goal is to have an extraordinary faith. Does that mean that faithfulness is marked by the extraordinary? This devotional will look at the words Paul left for his young friend, Timothy. As someone who lived an impressive life of faithfulness himself, Paul outlined how we can do the same in every area of our lives, no matter our circumstances.
