In Christ: A Journey Through EphesiansНамуна

From Death to Life
Ephesians 2 begins with a sobering truth: we were dead in our sins, following the course of this world (Ephesians 2:1–2). But then comes one of the most powerful phrases in all of Scripture—“But God.” Out of His great love and mercy, God made us alive with Christ, even when we were undeserving (Ephesians 2:4–5). We didn’t earn it; it’s all grace.
Paul emphasizes that salvation is a gift, not the result of works (Ephesians 2:8–9). This frees us from striving to be good enough and invites us to rest in what Christ has done. And yet, we’re not saved to sit still—we are God’s workmanship, created for good works He prepared for us to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). It’s not about earning salvation, but expressing it.
This chapter also reminds us that Christ has broken down every dividing wall. Once far off, Gentiles have been brought near by His blood (Ephesians 2:13–14). As Galatians 3:28 echoes, there is no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free—we are one in Christ.
God isn’t just saving individuals; He’s building a unified people—a dwelling place for His Spirit (Ephesians 2:22). We don’t just go to church—we are the Church.
Prayer:
God, thank You for bringing me from death to life. Remind me that I don’t have to earn what You’ve already given. Let me live as Your workmanship, walking in the good works You’ve prepared for me. Use me to be a part of the peace and unity You’re building in the world. Amen.
