Am I Enough? 3 Encouraging Reminders for Parents

DAY 3 OF 3

God Loves Through You

The beauty of the Gospel is that once you know Christ, he lives in you and through you by the Holy Spirit. This means that God is producing the fruit of the Spirit in your life, including in your parenting.

Now God’s love gets to be “shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” (Romans 5:5)

“God is love,” according to 1 John 4:8. Like water flowing through a hose, God wants to love your children through you every day. He is the source. You are the vessel.

This is also why John says in 1 John 4:19, “We love… because he first loved us.”

Just as God is patient, kind, and gentle with us, he empowers us to reflect this love that we’ve experienced through him to our children.

As you yield yourself to the Spirit’s power and presence, he gives you the ability to live out the fruit of the Spirit to your family in ways that you could never do on your own.

When you can’t, he can. When you don’t have the strength, he does. When you feel alone, he’s right there beside you.

So even on the days when you fail, God, in his grace, can still use all things for your good and the good of your children.

When you’re feeling less than enough, never forget – God chose you. God is parenting you. And God lives in you and loves your children through you.

Your children don’t need a perfect parent; they need a godly one.

Be encouraged. In God’s eyes, because of Christ in you, you are enough.

Prayer

“Lord, please help me to yield myself to your control so that you can love my children through me today as I live out the fruit of the Spirit in my life.”
