Day 2 – "Am I Too Far Gone?"
Amanda was involved in witchcraft and driven to the point of suicide—until someone stepped in to pray with her, to be genuine, and simply to be there. In that moment of brokenness, she encountered God. And in that encounter, she realized she wanted Him more than the darkness.
We never know what background people come from. The person sitting next to you on a church pew might have a past darker than you could ever imagine. But if we could sum up what pulled them from the deepest pits of darkness into the Light, it would be one word: hope.
Amanda needed hope. She had none. From a young age, her innocence was stolen by someone who was supposed to protect and shepherd her. The abuse planted a seed of hatred toward Christians—a seed that grew, warping what should have produced love, joy, and strength in God’s grace. Instead, it birthed hatred for others and for herself.
To cope, Amanda turned to darkness, using it as a shield to cover her wounds. But when her friend Angie stepped in and found the tender, wounded place behind the armor, she offered Amanda something she had never experienced before—hope. She ministered to her, gently pointing her to the Light.
Amanda found the hope and peace she had craved since childhood through a true, personal encounter with Jesus Christ. It wasn’t just another layer of armor to hide behind—it was the key that unlocked the chains she had carried for years. She finally walked free.
Do you need that kind of hope today? It’s available to you. The first step is what Amanda had to do: admit she was hurting.
It wasn’t until Paul truly encountered Jesus that he was changed. Paul’s “Angie” was a believer named Ananias, who came to pray for him after he met Jesus on the Damascus road and was blinded for three days. Paul not only received healing for his physical eyes—he was baptized and went on to write much of the New Testament.
Paul experienced something he didn’t even realize he needed—until everything went dark.
He needed hope. He needed Jesus.
The very One he was persecuting was his salvation.
So if you’re thinking, “I’m too far gone,” hear this truth: you are not. I think Paul and Amanda could both testify and say, “You are far from it, dear friend.”
Practical Steps:
- Admit you need Jesus.
He already knows—but freedom begins when you say it out loud. - Find a trusted Christian friend.
Someone who will genuinely pray for you and walk with you as you grow in your faith. - Forgive.
As difficult as it may be, if forgiveness is what stands between you and healing, choose to forgive. And if the pain keeps resurfacing, forgive again—and again—and again. - Forgive yourself.
God’s mercy extends to you, too. Look in the mirror and speak grace over yourself. You are not too far gone.
