Why Not Now?

DAY 12 OF 21

Revival Is Knocking

I don't know if you've grown up in church, but if you have, you've heard some older people talk about the good old days, you know? When church services looked a bit different, went for different amounts of time, had different kinds of songs, different dances, and different fashions.

It was the good old days when, like, God did stuff.

You hear about this all the time. "Back when I was younger and in church, this is what God did."

But even better and older days were before that. Back through to the Book of Acts. We see these moments in the history of those good old days—those moments where the Holy Spirit would nearly overwrite any intention or desire or strategy. He would just do something sovereign in His own way, and people would respond. They would encounter Him. It would be miraculous.

And there’d be all these things we read in the Bible. Jesus said, "This is what will happen. This is what will come."

We say: Why not now?

Let’s see it now. Not like we’re complaining—“Why don’t we see that now?” We’ve had enough of that. As a pastor, I hear enough of that. But I just think as a church, we need to be the people crying out to God, saying, “Lord, why not now?”

Let’s see that stuff happen again. Because I’ll just let you know—I think that we are in a world that is desperate for it.

They might not know it, but they are in desperate need.

And the church around the world—including here—is in desperate need of a fresh touch from God. Not just in need, wanting.

We want a fresh touch from God. Not running off the oil from before. Not running off someone else’s testimony. But opening the door to Jesus today.
