21 Days to Overcome Stress

DAY 17 OF 21

One Is the Loneliest Number

Today, we linger a little longer on the enemy’s destructive scheme - loneliness.

As mentioned, loneliness is a lie…a spiteful and hateful lie that will cause you to question the truth of God’s infallible Word.

Satan knows that when you feel alone, he is able to defeat you. Just like a baby gazelle lagging behind its herd, the enemy is thrilled when you are separated from your proverbial “herd” and all alone for him to pounce.

We all know married women who ache with loneliness, as well as young mothers with houses filled with children who feel alienated and abandoned. We all know popular teenagers who struggle with desperate loneliness.

Loneliness is not so much about lacking relationships as it is about building healthy relationships. You will conquer your loneliness when you learn how to give while everyone else is living a self-centered existence.

You will no longer feel abandoned if you can learn the secret of being assertively friendly when everyone else is merely passive, or by having a cheerful, positive heart when everyone else is uninterested.

Remind yourself on a daily basis that love is something that you do, not something that you feel. If you can reach out in love and kindness to someone every day, regardless of how you feel, it will change your life.

Jesus really is your best friend, so begin to act like it today. Feel free to talk to Him at any time…any place…or anywhere. Share your heart with Jesus and then listen to hear how He responds to you.

Serve Him everywhere you go and never forget that you will never be able to out-give Him, although it is a whole lot of fun to try! Make dates with Jesus. Don’t just “pencil” Him in...make a date and then keep it!

When you begin to respond to Jesus as you would to a friend, your loneliness will ebb away – I guarantee it!
