"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” - Acts 1:8, NIV
For many of us, telling others about what Jesus has done for us is intimidating. Perhaps that’s because we don’t want others to know the depths of our pain or the hardships and struggles we’ve endured. Maybe it’s because we don’t know what to say or where to begin. It might be that we’re embarrassed, shy, or simply not sure we’ll be able to answer the questions that may come our way after we share. So, what do we do? If Jesus’ words command us to tell others about His work in our lives, how can we possibly push past what’s standing in our way and do just that?
Well, as Scripture reminds us here, it’s not a call we have to answer on our own. As followers of Jesus, we have the power of the Holy Spirit working in us to inspire us, give us courage, and help us find the words we need to tell the story of Jesus at work in our lives. And who knows? Maybe your story will be the catalyst to change someone else’s story in Jesus’ name! Today, pray for the Holy Spirit’s leading in your life. Ask for the Spirit to open your eyes to see how God has worked in your life and to help nudge you forward toward sharing that story with others when the time is right.

About this Plan

Many Bibles highlight Jesus’ words in red. In the same way that we skim the newspaper to hit the headlines or train our eyes to instinctively find the highlighted passages in books, the red letters are there to help us see what’s most important on the page: the heart of Jesus’ words and teachings. We’ll look at just that—the red letters that make Jesus’ words pop off the page and come to life in our hearts as we pause, listen, and consider what He has to say.
