Old Testament: The Foundation (Days 1-7)

Day 1: Creation - God Speaks the Universe into Being

What does it sound like when God speaks? The first words ever recorded give us the answer—and they changed everything.

God's Word is for everyone, everywhere. From speaking the entire universe into being to bringing new life to those in darkness, every word from the Father has tremendous power to transform.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters" (Genesis 1:1-2). Picture that scene: emptiness stretching in all directions, silence enveloping everything, nothing but darkness.

The First Word

Then came the moment that started it all: "And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light" (Genesis 1:3). The voice of God spoke the universe into being. At the sound of His voice, brilliant light broke forth, and from that moment all creation has reverberated with the life-giving power of His Word.

The Word Was There

John's Gospel reveals a stunning truth: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made" (John 1:1,3). Jesus, the eternal Word, was present at creation's first moment. God's plan of salvation had already begun.

From Light to All Nations

As light spread across the waters on Day One, before Adam took his first breath, God already knew every soul who would struggle in darkness, hungering for life. He knew every language that would ever be spoken and every tribe that would walk on the soil He created by simply speaking.

Still Speaking Today

The same Word that brought light from darkness is still at work. Nations around the world are hearing God's Word in languages they think and dream in. People are picking up the Bible in their native tongue for the first time, reading those Genesis words: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

Your Beginning

The God who spoke galaxies into existence wants to speak new life into your story. His Word still has the power to bring light into any darkness you're facing.
