It is good to pay attention to the troubles of others. Earlier in Philippians we were challenged to look not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of others. The Philippians were looking out for the concerns and needs of Paul and his ministry. How can we serve someone who is in need – particularly those who are serving the gospel? Not only are the recipients blessed by our attention and generosity, but our gifts of love are credited by God to our account of reward and blessing, both in this life and in eternity.
