WE SHALL NOT DIE - Reading With the People of God #17Намуна

Walking with the Prophets, Witnessing the Messiah
Welcome to the next step in our journey through Scripture! In this plan, we’ll be reading from the prophets Micah, Habakkuk, and Isaiah—men who spoke hard truths to God’s people during dark times. Their words confront sin, call for justice, and yet hold out hope for a coming King who will bring lasting peace.
Alongside these prophetic voices, we’ll read through the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, tracing the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and the powerful movement of His Church through the Holy Spirit. These books will speak to one another in rich and meaningful ways as we read them side by side.
Today’s readings launch us into this journey. We begin with Micah 1:1–7, where God’s judgment is announced, and with Luke 1, the beautiful and surprising beginning of the Gospel story—angelic announcements, expectant parents, and songs of hope.
Before reading, we encourage you to take a few minutes to watch the BibleProject overview video of Micah. These visual tools are incredibly helpful for grasping the message, themes, and literary design of each book and will enrich your time in the Word.
As you prepare to read today's readings, take a moment to quiet your heart and invite God to speak and then begin with this simple prayer:
Prayer of Illumination:
Lord, open my eyes to see Your truth, my ears to hear Your voice, and my heart to trust You more. Speak, for Your servant is listening. Amen.

About this Plan

In this 17th installment of Reading with the People of God, we continue following a lectionary rhythm—Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms. This plan explores the prophetic voices of Micah, Habakkuk, and Isaiah, who confronted kings and warned of coming judgment while pointing to the hope of the Messiah. Alongside these, we'll read from the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, tracing the life of Christ and the birth of the Church. As we read these powerful passages in parallel, may the Spirit shape us and grow us in Christ together.
