Quiet Control

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Exodus 33:14 NIV

We have no control over heaps of life’s happenings—globally, locally, personally. But we do have control over our actions, attitudes, thoughts and words. We do have control over our immediate environments, making sure our homes, work settings and social spaces are—as far as it depends on us—places of peace, where Christ is King.

As for the rest of our crazy, busy, noisy lives, we can control how we choose to respond to the things we can’t control. When it’s hard to find time to rest, or impossible to turn down the din blaring around you, remember that God’s presence goes with you all the time, and you can rest in it anytime.

Ask God to teach you how to live in the quiet of His presence amid the chaos of life.
