Letting Go and Trusting God

DAY 1 OF 5

Letting go of relationships is never easy, especially when our hearts are entangled with memories, hopes, and shared history. But, I believe there comes a time when God highlights certain relationships that are no longer fruitful or are hindering His plans for us. The Bible teaches us about the idea of pruning (John 15:2), and by nature, it is never something that we desire because it involves cutting, separating, and removing. However, its ultimate goal is to prepare us to be even more fruitful for the Lord.

Now, some people in our lives may have started off well, but somewhere along the way, they became spiritual "suckers," draining the energy and grace meant for something else. These relationships might not seem harmful on the outside, but they distract us, delay us, or sabotage our purpose. In the same way a gardener removes unfruitful branches to protect the harvest, God sometimes removes certain people in order to protect us. As a result, holding on to what God is removing will only lead to frustration, confusion, and stagnation.

Take Jesus, for example. He let Judas go, not because Judas won or had power, but because Jesus's mission wasn’t to cling to him but to fulfill God’s purpose. In other words, if you find yourself constantly disappointed, betrayed, or pulled into chaos by someone in your life, it may be time to release them and trust that God can see the full picture of your future.

Letting go doesn’t make you bitter; it sets you free. Remember, what God has ahead of you is always better than what He’s asking you to leave behind.

Today's Challenge: Take 15 minutes to pray and ask the Lord to reveal any relationship or situation that He may be calling you to release. Take time to write down what He shows you.

Let's Pray: Lord, I want to bear fruit in every area of my life. If there is anyone or anything You are trying to remove from my heart, my circle, or my focus, give me the strength to let go. I trust You know what's best for me. Help me not to cling to what You're cutting away.
