Live Like Devotional Series for Young People: DanielНамуна

Day 2: DISCIPLINE & DILIGENCE
📖 Scripture: Daniel 6:4–10 | Proverbs 22:29
Devotion: Faithful No Matter What
By this point in Daniel’s story, he had already proven himself to be a person of excellence. He was so consistent, responsible, and trustworthy in his work that he kept getting promoted—and not everyone liked that. Out of jealousy, some of the officials plotted to bring him down. But look at what Scripture says:
“They couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy.”
— Daniel 6:4 (NLT)
Even when his enemies tricked the king into signing a law that would get Daniel in trouble for praying, Daniel didn’t panic or hide. Instead, he did what he always did—he went home, opened his window toward Jerusalem, and prayed to God three times a day, just like he had before.
That’s discipline.
That’s diligence.
That’s faithfulness—even when it’s hard.
💭 Reflection Questions
- Can others describe you as faithful, responsible, and trustworthy?
- Do you show up and do your best, even when no one is watching or even when it’s challenging to do so?
- Are you consistent in your commitments to God and others?
🔍 Think About It
Discipline isn’t about perfection—it’s about consistency. Daniel was diligent in his work and in his relationship with God. The Bible says:
“Do you see someone diligent in their work? They will stand before kings...”
— Proverbs 22:29 (NIV)
Daniel didn’t just serve kings—he influenced them. His diligence opened doors, and his discipline kept him grounded. He didn’t let pressure or busyness push God out of his life. He made time—every day—to pray.
🙏 Prayer
Lord,
Help me become a person who is faithful and dependable. Teach me to be disciplined in how I work and how I worship. Give me the strength to keep showing up, even when it’s hard. Help me to reflect You through the way I live, so I can be trusted by others and used by You.
Amen.
