Sickness Can Draw You and Others Closer to God, if You Let It – Here’s HowНамуна

Are You Healed? Everyone Can Praise God!
Healing brings joy, relief, and celebration.
After days or months–or even years–of pain and prayer, getting better feels like a victory. And it is. But Scripture teaches that healing isn’t just something to be grateful for. It’s something to respond to.
The purpose of healing isn’t only restoration – it’s revelation. It reveals the compassion, power, and presence of God.
One of the clearest examples comes from Luke 17. Ten men with leprosy cried out to Jesus, and He healed them all. But only one returned.
“He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him – and he was a Samaritan.” Jesus asked, ‘Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?” – Luke 17:16-17 NIV
Gratitude is not automatic. Even miraculous healing can be met with forgetfulness. But don’t let that be your story.
When healing comes, don’t move on too quickly. Stop, reflect, and return to Jesus with thanks.
This is a wonderful way sickness draws us closer to God: when healing comes, it draws us closer to God in praise and thanksgiving.
David modeled this kind of response. After being rescued from sickness, he wrote this:
“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” – Psalm 103:2-3 NIV
David knew his healing wasn’t random or earned – it was mercy. And mercy is meant to be shared.
Healing is also an opportunity to strengthen the faith of others. In John 11, when Jesus delayed coming to Lazarus, He told the disciples plainly:
“This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it” – John 11:4 NIV
Lazarus suffered, died, and was raised again – all to God’s glory. And those who saw it believed.
Brain Cancer Epilogue
Of course, the little girl with brain cancer never wanted it. And neither her parents or siblings. In fact, their primary question was “Why her God, Why?” Life seemed so unfair, so difficult.
But some time after the healing, the parents and their little girl began to see the whole experience from God’s view. Yes, it was difficult, and no, nobody would want that again, but Wow – what an impact on others in the family, her school, and their neighborhood. The message of faith and the goodness of God was brought loud and clear to so many people that might otherwise never hear it. No amount of invitations to Christmas services or church socials could come even close!
And yes, after all the memories of doctors, hospitals, and treatments had subsided, one thing remained: God is good and to be glorified. The little girl’s healing was not just for her – it was for others, too.
Take Time to Reflect
If you’ve been healed – physically, emotionally, or even spiritually – don’t keep it quiet. Tell your story. Thank God loudly. Let your praise draw others to Him. The Bible says this:
“Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” – Psalm 40:3b NIV
That’s the ripple effect of a healed life rooted in faith.
Ask yourself:
- Have I truly thanked God for what He’s done?
- Who can I share my story with today?
- How can my healing become someone else’s hope?
You didn’t just survive – you were sustained.
And that’s worth more than private gratitude. That’s a reason for public praise.
