Launching a Business God’s Way: Part II
When I was 25 years old, I left public accounting and struggled to determine what I wanted to do next. I read about a new concept called Rent-a-Wreck.
It sounded like a groundbreaking idea, so I started my own used car rental agency. Looking back, my only real objective was to make lots of money.
I had no knowledge or passion for renting cars, and no legitimate reason to answer the question, “Why should this business exist?”
Proverbs 20:5 teaches, “The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.” (NIV)
If you’re considering launching a business, first, ponder deeply the question, “Why should this business exist?” Ideally, you should also seek wise counsel from business savvy friends or mentors.
If your answer is to make money, dig deeper to find a better purpose for your career. Having purpose and passion will make getting out of bed easier on those days when business is challenging.
About this Plan

Launching a new business takes time, patience, prayer, and planning. Proverbs 21:5 warns, "The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty." In this six-part series, Rick Boxx draws upon his 25+ years of business and consulting experience to lead us down a path that pleases God: Starting a Business God's Way.
