This is the last of Paul’s written works that fit into the Acts account. As Paul is wrapping up about a decade of successful missionary activity in the Northeastern Mediterranean, he looks to the next frontier. His eyes are set on the furthest Western reaches of the Roman Empire: Spain. Paul reasons that this presents a good opportunity to visit the Roman church. Paul’s letter to the Romans is not only an introduction, but Paul also uses this opportunity to address the disunity between Jewish and Gentile believers that has become a problem in the Roman church.
