The Otherness of GodНамуна

God's otherness reveals our need for Him
God's otherness reveals the depth of our sin and why grace is so difficult to understand for us as humans: the transcendent God has bowed low to redeem sinners. Here's the paradox: This extreme otherness of God does not prevent Him from being present with us and identifying with us. In extremely personal intimacy, God chooses to live in us. In Christ, God entered our world – the transcendent became immanent. John 1:14 (NASB) - "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth."
Every human being can converse with God and have an eternal relationship with Him. He is a real person who knows everything and what is best for us.
God's character is to stretch out His hand to us and say, "The LORD, the LORD God, is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness, maintaining loving devotion to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin" (Exodus 34:6-7; BSB).
Because of His divine otherness, we know we can trust Him, believe His promises, and walk in willful obedience to Him. In Him we can find rest, even when we do not understand why He does certain things. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB) - "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
