Day 3: What is The Will of God for My Life?

So far, we’ve covered that choice is a gift from God. While He offers us some guides and guardrails to help us make the right choices, our choices often come down to wisdom and personal preference. So, how do we combine wisdom and personal taste when making decisions? Thankfully, God gives us some pretty big clues on how to do this.

God created you to be a whole person with interests, talents, hobbies, gifts, and abilities. In sum, all those things make you who you are; they make you whole. God’s invitation has always been for us to bring our entire selves to Him and that He uses all of us to bring honor and glory to His name. How do we do that? We make decisions that are integrated with who God has created us to be and what God has created us to do.

Consider this: what if each part of your personality, unique abilities, and specific opportunities were actually the spices given to you to add flavor to your life? God doesn’t want you to follow him in the same way that your friends, pastors, or fellow churchgoers do. Rather, He wants you to follow Him how he created you to! Discerning the Will of God for our lives is about making wise choices consistent with who we’re designed to be so that we can reflect honor and glory back to God.

If you’re a parent, how are you stewarding the opportunity to cultivate life, wholeness, and faith in the next generation? If you’re an activist, how are you stepping boldly into injustice so that others see how much God cares about those who are taken advantage of?

If you want to understand God’s Will for your life, begin by studying who God made you to be. Then, figure out how to use your talents, interests, personality, and opportunities to wisely reflect honor and glory back to God. Your life was never meant to be bland or flavorless; your uniquenesses are the spices God has given you to season this experience called life.
