Inner Clarity

You’re Blessed

Matthew 5:8 THE MESSAGE

[Jesus said,] “You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.”

Jesus extends an invitation to seek inner clarity, indicating that when your inner world (including your thoughts and emotions) is aligned with God’s principles, you can better perceive God’s presence and work in the external world. This passage encourages us to focus on inner spiritual transformation to better understand the divine in our lives. As you settle into this time, be reminded that it is not always about what we see with our eyes but also what we hear within our spirits.

for reflection

  1. Does being quiet with God come easily for you, or is it challenging?
  2. Do culture and commercialism push you into expectations that do not align with your true longings?
  3. Are there areas of your inner life that do not match your outer life?

sensory cue

Step outside today for a time of walking meditation. Whether you walk in a quiet neighborhood or a loud city, be reminded that God is with you. With each step, be mindful of the sensations around you. Isolate each sense. First, notice what you hear, then what you see, then what you smell, and then what you taste. Finally, pick up something you can touch. What do you notice in your body as you isolate each sense? Do you gain inner clarity? Be present in the world, open your heart to gratitude, and walk slowly and mindfully, allowing yourself to experience the presence of God and God’s Kingdom in and around you. As you walk, remember that your Creator guides you through what you hear, see, and sense—inside and out.

Thank you for helping me pause and listen. Now, may I listen for you and notice you more clearly within me and in the world around me.
