Imago Dei: The Significance of Being Made in God’s Image
We often underestimate what it means to be made in the image of God. The enemy loves to make us forget that truth. Out of all of God’s incredible creations, only one was made in His image: human beings.
This means we reflect parts of God's character: His knowledge, wisdom, sense of justice, creativity, and desire for relationship. We were made like mirrors, created to reflect the image of God. Even though the world is fallen and broken, God's desire is to restore His image in each of us. And that's exactly what He does when we surrender our lives to Christ. We don't just clean up our act; we become entirely new in Him, as 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV) states: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation."
Reflection:
- How can you reflect the image of Christ to both believers and non-believers this week?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and for the promise that You are restoring that image daily. Help me to reflect You to others and to live in the purpose You’ve given me. Amen.
