UNPACK This...Being Patient With Ourselves and Each OtherНамуна

Give Him A Chance
Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts have experienced tremendous success as the Philadelphia Eagles' head coach and quarterback, respectively. Their collective accomplishments have earned this duo widespread praise from the Philadelphia fan base.
Interestingly, many people sang a different tune when Hurts was drafted, and Sirianni was first hired. In April 2020, the Eagles had Carson Wentz as their franchise QB but decided to draft Jalen Hurts in the second round. Many fans were outraged by the selection.
When the Eagles hired Sirianni in 2021, fans and media members were initially skeptical of him. He was criticized for his introductory press conference, his 2-5 record to start, and his play-calling.
This situation reminds us that not only do fans jump to conclusions and make snap judgments, but many people do the same thing in challenging circumstances. We often tend toward worry, fear, negativity, and anxiousness.
Thankfully, as followers of Jesus, we can live by faith instead of responding with doubt and skepticism.
Hebrews 11:6 (AMP) tells us, “But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for whoever comes to God must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”
Unlike coaches and players who don’t always work out or come through for us, God is always faithful and worthy of our trust as He leads us to victory.
We don’t know what He knows, so it's silly to react negatively before allowing Him to reveal His goodness and glory.
Psalm 34:8-9 (CSB) says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good. How happy is the person who takes refuge in Him! You who are His holy ones, fear the Lord, for those who fear Him lack nothing.”
Today, even when things look bleak, we have no reason to write Him off. Even when things take longer than we think they should, we must continue to trust Him and give Him a chance!
I’m Bryce Johnson, and you can UNPACK that!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I pray I will trust You fully through every situation I face. Please forgive me for being skeptical when things look bleak and uncertain. I know that You are faithful and good. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
