Light Overcomes Darkness

Scripture:

The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1 NIV

Reflection:

Darkness never wins.

It doesn’t matter how long it’s been there. The moment light enters, darkness has to leave. John 1:5 NIV says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

That light is Jesus. And when His light fills our hearts, it changes the way we see everything.

You don’t fight darkness by focusing on it. You overcome it by turning on the light. By filling your mind with truth, surrounding yourself with hope, and staying close to God’s presence.

Even a small light can make a big difference in a dark room. You carry that kind of light inside you. Let His Word, His love, and His peace light up the dark places in you and around you.

Journaling Prompt:

Where do you see darkness trying to creep in — in your thoughts, emotions, or circumstances? Ask the Holy Spirit to show you one “light source” (a verse, a truth, a worship song) you can turn to today.

Prayer:

God, be my light when I feel anxious. Shine brightly in my heart. Amen.

Practical Tip:

Buy a colour-changing lamp for your bedroom. Have a scripture that you can quietly whisper whenever the colour changes. Keep speaking these scriptures as the colour changes, until you feel calm and hopeful.
