The Power of Words - a Video Devo With America's Got Talent Winner, Dustin TavellaНамуна

Let’s Get Real:
It’s easy to think our words don’t matter all that much.
That a comment here or a joke there couldn’t possibly carry weight.
But the truth?
Your words carry power.
Like eternal impact kind of power.
In the video, I shared how a man named Keith spoke life into me. He saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself—and he said it. And because of his words, my life took a completely different direction.
But it didn’t stop with me.
I’m now married. I’m a dad. My wife and I get to speak life over our two adopted sons every single day.
And if you rewind even further—someone spoke life into my parents years ago.
Generations are different because of some christian's making the decision to speak.
The Ripple Effect
Keith didn’t just encourage me.
He started a chain reaction of healing, identity, and purpose.
And the people who spoke into my parents?
Same thing.
They believed the Bible. They believed in the power of their words. And they acted on it.
They could’ve felt awkward.
They could’ve talked themselves out of it.
They could’ve assumed it wasn’t that big of a deal.
But they didn’t.
And now… generations of a family are walking in freedom and spreading the love of Jesus.
All because someone had the courage to open their mouth and speak life.
So, What Now?
Here’s the truth:
God wants to use you the same way.
He wants to use your words to help reach someone else.
To encourage them.
To build them up.
To call out who they really are in Him.
But you can’t just hear that truth and do nothing with it.
It’s time to own it. To act on it.
Start small if you need to.
Send that text.
Encourage your friend.
Thank your parents.
Tell someone you see Jesus in them.
You have no idea what kind of ripple effect your words could create.
Your Challenge Today:
Think of one person in your life who might need to hear truth.
Maybe it’s someone struggling.
Maybe it’s someone doing great but hasn’t been told that.
Ask God what He sees in them—and then say it out loud.
Let your mouth be a tool that God can use to heal, restore, and launch someone into their purpose.
Even when it’s awkward.
Even when you’re nervous.
Even when it feels small.
You may never know how big it really is.
Prayer You Can Pray:
God, thank You for the gift of words. Help me to see the people around me the way You do. Give me boldness to speak life, even when it feels uncomfortable. Show me who needs encouragement today, and give me the words to say. I want to be a part of the healing You’re doing in others. Use my voice. Use my life. Amen.
Bottom Line:
One word of truth can change someone’s life—maybe even generations.
Don’t stay silent. Speak life.
