After the CrossНамуна

When Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, and every time we walk around with His Spirit in us, it is a declaration: “I want to go through life with you.” God in you has all kinds of implications, but let’s just consider one aspect of how God in us affects our lives: when we read Scripture.
Since the Holy Spirit lives in you, something that happened after the Cross, it means this: every time you come to Scripture, you are not reading it alone. It is a Tandem Reading Session. So, ask God to speak directly to your heart. If something jumps off the page to you, that’s not a coincidence. If it feels like, “Oh, that’s exactly what I needed to hear,” it’s not an irony. The Spirit of Truth is guiding you to the Truth. He knows your heart, He knows the Word, He knows what you’re facing, He knows what You need to hear. Scripture is living and active (Hebrews 4:12), yes, and part of the reason why is because He is speaking to you through it. Personally.
So, every time you come to Scripture, ask: “What do You want to say to me today?” Then read and pay attention. He will speak.

About this Plan

Although crosses are common to us today, they meant something different during Jesus’ time. The cross was the ultimate form of punishment, an extremely painful form of death that was reserved for the worst of criminals. Jesus experienced this painful, humiliating form of punishment, but the Cross was just the beginning of the story. We’ll look at the significance of the Cross, but also what happened after the Cross.
